The Gibraltar Federation of Sea Anglers welcomes the Government’s statement dated 18th March 2016 that clarifies their position on these matters.  It is now satisfied that given the process of discussion and consultation that needs to take place any and all press and media reports coming from across the frontier that attempts to suggest that a detailed agreement has been reached with the Government of Gibraltar can be discounted as pure speculation.

In its Press Release, the GFSA went on to say it is content that no agreement has been reached whereby Temporary Boat Licenses will begin to be issued as from 1st April 2016.

It also stressed the Federation has worked closely with this Government on matters concerning the protection of Gibraltar’s Marine Environment and will continue to do so but it will not allow itself to be taken for granted.

It also recognises the huge gains that have been made since the Alliance formed the Government and wishes to make clear its desire to work in partnership to protect the marine environment.  In respect to sport and recreational fishing GFSA is the main stakeholder and it wants to ensure that it is consulted fully on all matters affecting their members.
