Minister for Health and Care, the Hon Samantha Sacramento, yesterday took the first shot of the Pfizer vaccine administered by Matron Priscilla Ryan at the GHA vaccination centre along with frontline staff. She was followed by the Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, who has thanked the GHA for their work and for a smooth process.
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo announced in his latest press conference that lockdown may be lifted on 31st January if we continue to see the downward trend. Schools may therefore re-open as from 1st Feb. Catering establishments however will likely not be permitted to re-open until the 1st March.
The GHA’s COVID-19 vaccination process starts again in the early hours of each morning, when the pharmacy team begin the process to thaw the Pfizer vaccine at 5:00am in order to prepare for a busy day of vaccination ahead.
The GHA have said it is aware that there are many patients that are coming to harm from delayed treatments for non-COVID related conditions. Cancer patients are just one example. Breast Cancer services are still functioning, and are still seeing and treating patients.
