Day 2 at the Youth Commonwealth Games in Nassau, Bahamas was greeted with harsh weather, a far cry from the brilliant sunshine of Day 1.

The young athletes coped admirably despite the conditions, and in the morning swimmers Elijah Cruz, Aidan Carroll and David Hitchcock were up in the heats.

Elijah registered 30.27s in the 50m backstroke, while David and Aidan went in the 100m freestyle heats. Aidan clocked 58.04s and David came home in a time of 56.56s. All three recorded personal bests.

Over on the tracks later in the afternoon, Abdullah Ahammad came home in 53.44 in heat 3 of the 400m.

Abdullah runs again on Day 3 in the heats of the 800m, together with some more swimming action.

Harry Murphy and Joe Schembri as President and Secretary General of The Gibraltar Commonwealth Games Association are also in The Bahamas representing Gibraltar at the Commonwealth Games Federation Forum and have been watching our athletes in action.  Harry presented the medals for the men's 1500m athletics event in the Stadium and Joe will presenting medals later this week.

The sporting action continues over the weekend with the athletes returning to Gib early next week.
