Millennium Singles Ranking 2007-08

"Dylan Duo still on for number 1 spot".

A respectable 41 members participated in a very high scoring evening of darts which included thirteen 180's in total.

Ranking events always brings out the best and worst of dart players and this one was no different.

Some disappointments and surprises were witnessed on the night, which keeps this ever increasing established sport as exciting as ever (just like proved by young aspiring 21 year old, Kirk Sheppard, in the recent World Darts Championships on Sky Sports).

The local shock of the evening surely must go to the Christian Asquez vs Dyson Parody match in the 2^nd round, a close match and Christian just managed to beat Dyson by a 3-2 deficit.

The four semi-finalists were Dylan Duo, Francis Taylor, Henry Zapata & Alfred King and well deservedly so as on there paths none had easy draws. Including Dylan Duo beating Alan Kimberley & George Federico, Henry Zapata beating Danny Peach & Justin Broton, Alfred King beating Owen Philips & Aluaro Costa, Francis Taylor beating Amos Bosano & Karl Mena.

In the final, Francis Taylor won the toss and started strong gaining a quick 3-0 lead over Dylan Duo which included a 16 darter by Francis. Close to making it 4-0 Dylan just managed to close the gap by winning his 1^st leg to make it 3-1. After that, Francis was not able to simply run with it as Dylan pegged back. At 4-4 with the 1^st to 6 legs to be declared the winner, Dylan, finally after having worked hard to get back on top form through some inspired darts in the last 2 legs and threw a 140, 180 to make it 5-4 and then another 180 to secure a 6-4 win and the title.

This week (Friday 11^th January 2008 - registration 8:15pm sharp, College Cosmos) we have another ranking a week before the Pro's arrive in Gib (18^th to 20^th January, Central Hall), so we encourage all members to turn up to get those final few games out of the way in preparation for the big guns of World Darts. Remember that you will be able to register for the qualifiers on the night.
