It had to be one of them as the two unbeaten teams in the senior cricket league faced each other last weekend at the Victoria stadium.
In the end it was GCCs whose winning run came to an end as they went down to a fine Calpe CC performance inspired by the bowling of Skinner who took 5 for 36 and the batting of Young who made 62 before being caught.
It was a disappointing match for GCC who collapsed despite starting brightly with their opening partnership of Rocca and Farrell putting on 77 between them. They then witnessed the rest of their order struggle to an average of under 7 runs each with only Hewitt (22) and Brooks (11 not out) managing to find any kind of form.
The match leaves Calpe second in the league behind GCC but with 2 games in hand.
Calpe CC 154/5 (Young 62, Buttigieg 32 not out, Skinner 5 for 36) beat GCC 151/9 (Rocca 57, Gonzalez 3 for 25)
