Badminton Island Games

The Gibraltar Badminton Association has been participating in the Island Games since the 1987 Guernsey Games which were the first Games that Gibraltar sent a contingent to. This year they were quite disappointed that badminton was omitted from the Rhodes Games.

The Association's President and top local player Ivan De Haro believes that the Island Games still provides the best level of competition for local athletes and it should be the platform that local youngsters should aspire to participate and succeed in. In order to avoid a four year competition gap, Greenland decided to host the Badminton Island Games sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation.
