Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Xbox 360, PS3 & PC

So you like your games filled with action yea? If you're a Xbox 360 owner you've probably been locked away in a dark room playing the final epic Halo 3 recently, forgetting to go to work/school/ meet with friends, eat, sleep and just about everything within the real world. If you're a PC owner then you must be counting the days till Crysis is released and for all those PS3 owners. You're still waiting for a killer game to sink your teeth into.  No worries!!! Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has hit like an artillery shell to the face.

As Modern Warfare's single player campaign unfolds, you are introduced to so many tense situations soldiers face today. Hence the name - Modern Warfare.   One moment you are storming into the war zone with an armada of choppers, fast roping from a Black Hawk helicopter, clearing a building under nightfall, cutting the power and using night vision to your advantage to eliminate the terrorist threat. Then a sniper under concealment in a Ghillie suit, miles behind enemy lines on a mission to assassinate a terrorist leader. Flying thousands of feet above the ground engaging hostiles from an AC-130 gunship, the experiences are nothing short of astonishing. Modern Warfare throws you into pure madness and forces you to deal with everything it throws at you. It's all about the action guys and this has bucket loads to throw at you. I mean the enemy crawl out from anywhere and everywhere like 6ft roaches with submachine guns, grenades and RPG's. It's frighteningly realistic.

If any of the previous Call of Duty's have impressed you then you have an idea of what to expect and believe me, you WILL be blown away. It features the exact same controls as before so no problems there cause if it isn't broken, it don't need fixing. In all previous games within the series, the theme focused on World War II and by the 3rd instalment the franchise was becoming all too familiar. So to freshen things up a little they've focused on present day and it's worked a treat. The list of improvements contained within the game is vast. The graphics are simply amazing here! You may have seen pictures or even read a review or two but no words or still image can prepare you for the feast your eyes will have. This has to be seen in motion to really appreciate how good this is, it's so silky and photo-realistic. From the heat blurs, blast of fire from guns, smoke clouds, dirt from the ground flying into the air as a grenade explodes 3ft away from you, grass waving around in the wind, smoke trails from rockets buzzing by you, shadows from enemy soldiers around a corner. Combine this with some of the most realistic sounds, effects and scarily intelligent enemies and you get the feeling you are in a war. Not a computer game. For the short time it takes to complete Modern Warfare (which is about 5-6 hrs on normal mode) you will be totally immersed within another world, fighting in tense battles that just seem impossible to survive. Once you have completed the game in single player then its time to tackle the arcade mode and more importantly get online and play it against people around the world, climbing the ranks as you fight each battle.  Call of duty 4: Modern Warfare will be remembered as one of the greats, so I implore you to buy this and have the ride of a lifetime.
