Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2
This is the follow up to the BAFTA award winning game of the year 2006, set in South America and within the USA, you're Captain Mitchell the leader of the Ghost Recon squad. The 2nd game carries on shortly after the events of the 1st game, you are asked to be sent back into action to stop South American rebels from launching nuclear warheads upon US soil. Let the games begin.......

I love the Ghost Recon series, and just about every Tom Clancy game. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW 2) is a great war game. The graphics are excellent, the sound is top-notch, and the gameplay is some of the best around. If you're a fan of war games, this is the one to get.

The graphics in the game are great. The environments although not so much on the 1st level, all look spectacular, especially when the sun is shining on water or through the dust blowing around in the desert. Individual leaves on trees cast shadows onto your character, which is really cool to see. The character faces could be a bit more detailed themselves, but I'm honestly not looking at the faces of my teammates when I'm shooting an opponent. It's not that they're bad, they could just be a little better. When it's raining outside and a bullet goes by you, you can see the trail of the bullet through the rain. During points of this game, you'll just stand there looking around because it's such a great looking game.

The audio is just as great as the graphics. From the rustle of your clothing and equipment when you're running, to the sounds of explosions, to the reloading and shots of your guns, the sound is phenomenal. The only knock I have on the audio of this game is that the voice-acting is a bit of a mixed bag, sometimes it can be really good but then the next moment can be alittle corny.

Now to the gameplay in this game is fantastic, online and offline. Some people say that the gameplay is too slow, I disagree its just more realistic. I mean it's just as much fun planning your attack as it is going into battle. With your UAV drone, a small hovering remote recon machine, you will fly it over areas where you suspect the enemy to be and perform a scan. Once the UAV has detected enemy troops or vehicles you can plan your method of attack, set your team mates up in flanking positions and spring a surpise attack. Theres nothing like planning an assault on 5 to 6 troops and wiping them out in a matter of seconds because you've placed your team mates in a great position while your sniping.

This isn't a vast improvement on the original game or even far ahead of games like Rainbow Six: Las Vegas or Gears of War but its different enough to stand on its own, the more realistic these games get the more immersed you will become and god forbid take the game very very serious.

Overall, this is the best Ghost Recon game in the series. It's also the best war game available right now i think. I don't classify this in the same category as Rainbow Six: Vegas (RSV), because RSV is more of a tactical shooter in close quarters. GRAW 2 is more of a war game in open areas, much like what you would see on a battle field today. If you're a fan of war games at all, you need to go buy GRAW 2 whenever you have the opportunity. Now gear up soldiers we're going back in.....
