Does Jump on the Bandwagon Juarez, Mayor of Bankrupt La Linea thinks we are all a bunch of yokels, us and our Comarca friends?

La Linea’s political clown wants to set up an observatory in La Linea to monitor and collect data on health and environmental indicators. This idea comes after he has been in power for more than seven years seeing the Refinery spewing up clouds of poison to which apparently he has been blind to since he has done nothing about it except perhaps blame Gibraltar’s bunkering operations not those of Algeciras mind you.
He seems to think we are especially Gibraltar’s environmentalists are incapable of judging for ourselves in the light of the 1001 studies that have been carried out and the hundreds of thousands of words spoken by more knowledgeable people than Juarez. We all know, see and smell the principal culprit is CEPSA Refinery and other industries in the Comarca which are the cause of the poisonous emissions and cause the terrible health hazard which nobody but nobody does anything about despite the numerous demonstrations, representations and meetings with official bodies. All these events lead to nothing.

Juarez will do nothing simply because he owes CEPSA millions of Euros for work done by them in La Linea and for which CEPSA has not been paid.
If that is enough to prove Juarez’s stupidity what is?

And to crown it all he keeps on shooting off his mouth about everything under the sun.

BITER BIT
Eduardo Zaplana Spanish Popular Park, spokesman for everything to hit out against the PSOE Government uses some of corrupt practices in Spanish municipalities to hit out at politicians of the PSOE Government. He has said nothing about his own members corrupting in Telde in the Canary Islands and in the Balearics, Anthrax for instance.

Zaplana has had his actions exposed as mistaken in as much as corruption is a breach of existing Spanish Law and not a political issue. Breaches of the Law are investigated by examining Magistrates and the anti-corruption Fiscal departments and attorneys. That’s why some of Zaplana's fellow party members are in jail for the very practices he criticises others for.

Mind you Zaplana was recently asked to explain massive undetected losses of funding in the Terra mitica organisation when Zaplana was President of the Valencia Region about which there were no investigations nor were any instigated by him into the potential corruption scandal.

It’s a question of people living in glass houses such as the Partido Popular.
Makes you wonder about these holier than them politicians.

EXTREMADURA
The President of the Extremadura Region PSOE member has complained to the Attorney General of Spain that the newspaper El Mundo and the Radio station Cope both supporters of the right wing Popular Party have allegedly made false statements about the illegal use of Regional state offices by an ex PSOE Secretary of State for interior a fella called Rafael Nora who was not so long ago sentenced to 10 years jail for corruption.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez Ibarra, the President of Extremadura, is recognised as a decent and honourable politician who during the 11-March terrorist bombing of trains in Madrid offered his services and tried to contact the then P.P. President Jose Maria Aznar who would not even talk to Ibarra whilst Acebes, Aznar’s No. 2 Vice President was more interested in putting the President of the Basque Region in jail as a suspect instead of following leads into the Islamist bombers. Speaks volumes for the PP.

FARCIAL MINISTER
The very well known, independent and reputable Chatam House think tank recently criticised Prime Minister Blair’s weakness in dealing with the United States and hence leading to certain failures in Britain’s Foreign Policy. Chatam House has concluded that the U.S. led invasion of Iraq was “a terrible mistake” that the UK and other western European Countries will suffer for years. And also that Blair’s policy on Afghanistan was mistaken.

First to criticise the Chatam House Report was Britain’s Foreign Minister who is so well known that the majority of Britain’s and the Commonwealth population do not know her name. Her severe criticism reflects the standing of the Foreign Secretary. Margaret Beckett if you want to know her name.

What a farce.

POLLUTION
Hooray! You don’t say! Verdemar and Ecologistas en Accion the Comarca’s environmental activists have discovered that the Refinery at Puente Mayorca recently renamed by the San Roque Town Hall as Refineria Gibraltar/San Roque (obviously without the permission of the Gibraltar Government) has broken the law 157 times and its pollution record in the comarca has increased by 60% Carbon and fuel emissions described as PM10 have passed legal limits for YEARS and YEARS increasing respiratory diseases and cardio vascular problems in the community.

This problem has been raised by this column for years now and neither the Spanish state, the Regional Government, the Regional Diputacion, the Municipalities nor the comarca have done anything about it.

Is it that all these are in the habit of looking the other way when the dust of the Sahara settles in the area, or are palms crossed with silver or whatever?

And in the meanwhile people die. What a shame and a scandal!
