Subversive South African Peter Hain has stolen the march on other potential candidates for the Labour Party Deputy Leadership when political donkey John Prescott leaves. Not that this advance notice will do Hain any good because the opinion polls rate his party as a loser in the next general elections. Nevertheless Hain has released a list of his party’s political supporters made up of, like him, a few light weights of the Labour Party. There does not seem to be any experts on cricket pitches or door locks among them but his fellow MP’s on the list are available for quotes. Naturally there are no Gibraltarian's on the list but (could name a few who could give some background information on Hain’s honesty and integrity.
Or maybe lots of members of the House of Commons Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs and its Chairman Mr Anderson could oblige with quotes on Hain’s behaviour from their own experience.
If this is the best that the Labour Party can do in their acceptance of candidates for some posts they had better revise their rules to eliminate riffraff from applying.
POISON
Round about the end of November Guadarranque and Cartena woke up at 7.30am to a cloud of grey poisonous dust that covered the whole area. Special squads and principal workers like the local police and other self important buffoons were called out. The ecological protection unit Seprona took samples. That’s it. And no more news as usual and the people left in the dark. Some coughing and others with one foot nearer the grave. There was more interest shown in the forthcoming puente and where the authorities were going to enjoy themselves.
If anything this incident only goes to reinforce what this column has been saying for years that the emission of poisonous gas and dust from the Refinery and other ancillary industries are released at around four in the morning when everybody is in deep slumber and of course less people notice the disregard the Industry, the Municipality, the Junta, the Deputacion have for the people.
Will the Town Council of San Roque and its Mayor who receive millions of Euros in fees and taxes from the Refinery say anything? What do you think?
Fuensanta Coves the Environment Minister of the Junta de Andalucia will do usual fund excuses and true to tradicion do nothing.
Let’s not talk about Clown Juarez who looks the other way and who cannot even control or stop the nightly muggings that go on in the centre of La Linea.
What a joke! And what jokers.
BALEARICS
In the wake of the huge scandal at Marbella in operation ‘MALAYA’ involving bribes, embezzlement, money laundering etc in a wholescale urbanization racket headed by a municipal advisor Juan Antonio Rocca who is in the slammer at Al haurin, the next on the list was Telde in the Canary Islands where the Mayor of the Partido Popular and a few other officials and councillors were failed. Then came Andratx where the Mayor also Partido Popular and a few other colleagues one in clink. And, it is expected that another eighteen or twenty municipalities are under investigation for fraud etc etc etc.
The whole scandal has got to the stage where the Spanish Attorney General has been approached by the President of the Balearic Government for a meeting to discuss the whole situation and the State Attorney General Candido Conde Pumpido has approached the leader of the Partido Popular in Spain Mariano Rajoy to probably brief him on the scandal since all those involved are Partido Popular members.
One recalls that during the Ballena Blanca (White Whale) money laundering scandal also in Marbella, prior to the Malaya scandal Candido Conde Pumpido specifically said that Gibraltar was involved in the money laundering without of course producing any supporting evidence. Typical Spanish reactions reminiscent of the Franco era. The same reaction and statement was made by extreme right winger Mariano Rajoy following the Marbella urbanization scandal. Again without supporting evidence. Again reminiscent of the Franco era.
This bile and lying about Gibraltar is the usual standard practice. But when it happens in there own back yard and with their party followers there is thunderous silence.
Can you really trust these people at any time?
HUMAN RIGHTS
The United Nations special rapparteur an independence of Judges and Lawyers seems to be concerned about the Judiciary in Gibraltar. I promised myself not to comment about Gibraltar’s Constitution and its contents after the sickening spectacle of the actions of political parties and others prior to and after the referendum. As if a referendum was necessary. It wasn’t necessary in the 1964 and 1969 Constitution so what’s the difference. Is it self determination which is a load of bollocks because we can only have self determination if we have a free yes free to decide our own future, domestic and foreign? Full stop. The rest is wishful thinking.
However may I please ask the United Nations Rapporteur if he has taken speedy action to ensure about the Judicial Independence in Zimbabwe where its fair minded and just President Mr Mugabe gave a huge white form to the Chief Justice after turning out the white owners without notice or compensation and who were lucky to leave alive. Defender of fairness Mugabe also gave stolen white forms to many other of his supporters. I could also mention other African countries and some in South America and perhaps China which would merit speedy investigation. But of course these countries are blessed with a two party system. One party in power, the other in jail.
If there is something wrong with our constitution by all means put it right, but not to investigate others, some nearer to our home too, smacks of hypocrisy.
