Art Exhibition by Gail Francis Tiron

Gail Francis is holding an exhibition of paintings at the Fine Arts gallery, Casemates Grand Square till 11 March 2011 ~ Mondays to Fridays 11am - 6pm. Saturdays 11am -2pm.

The exhibition she has named 'DAY 11 ' which attracted my curiosity as I walked through the entrance and picked up the flyer that read in bold DAY 11. But the wonderful display of colours of the paintings captivated me so I pocketed the flyer for later reading.

The exhibition is Gail's  first solo ' Most of the works on exhibition date back between 1 and 5 years, 'she says, 'This is my first solo exhibition and something I have always had in the back of my mind to make it a reality one day. And I am very happy and proud to say that two of the paintings in the exhibition were painted by my son, Casey. I believe that if you create something it is a shame not to share it with others.

She then contiues to explain why she decided naming her exhibition ' DAY 11 ', 'The exhibition is named thus because the number shows up in many aspects of my life, especially the important ones. For example, I won Miss Gibraltar on 2/11, met my husband on 9/11 (yes, 2001) and married on 2/11 at 11 hours. When a very good friend of mine  won a major competition in the UK he bought me seat 11 and he won. Once I won a prize in a competition: a trip on an aircraft and I was sat on row 11. Whenever I look at the time (digital) it is 11min past, and so forth, the list is endless. Indeed, interesting fact for this year,' she says, 'Add the year you were born to your age next birthday= 111.'

Gail is very excited by her painting exhibition and it is clearly seen in the radiance flowing from her face.

'By showing my works, not only would I like to sell some but I also intend to inspire others into making the most of any creative qualities they might have. Hopefully I will be an example to other busy people and prove that it is possible to have a full time career, run a household and still make time for themselves.'
