Calentita - Melting Pots and Ethnic Salads
Friday 25th May will see the culmination of this year’s Spring Festival celebrated in typical Gibraltarian style - with lots of food. The venue is Casemates and the times are 21:00hrs to 02:00hrs. Everyone is invited to partake in one of our favourite pastime, eating and eating well. A selection of stalls representing Gibraltar’s diverse ethnic make up will be serving up a wide array of foodstuffs to dazzle our taste buds as the normal Friday Fever grips the centre of town Ethnicities represented include, British, Genoese, Indian, Moroccan, Jewish, Spanish, Maltese, Portuguese, and of course, the sum of it all, Gibraltarian. A selection of the foods available are;

Harira With Datiles and chubakia, Beef  Pinchitos, Chicken Pinchitos, Chicken Briwat  ( Moroccan Chicken Samosa), Moroccan Mix Swit With Mint Tea, Moroccan Hinna Tatus, Moroccan filo Scrolls With Coriander, Roast Beef and Béarnaise Baskets With Mustard Seed, Aubergine Frittatas With Cumin and Parmesan, Prawns Marie Rose En Croute With Chive, Smoked Salmon Blinis With Crème Fraiche, Courgette, Feta and Black Olive Tartlets, Giant Paella, Chicken Pastella, Spinach Pie, Artichoke Flan, Choux Buns, Mantecados, Rosquitas, Tortillas de Pasas, Walnut Loaf, Chocolate Cheesecake, Mini Fish and Chips, Mini Burgers, Chicken Wings, Samosas, Kebab wraps, Chicken tikka Rolls, Portions of chicken biryani, Sambosas, Pakoras, Potato varas, Chinese dishes (Stc), Maltese Pastizzis, Maltese Salad, Maltese Pies, Salt Beef Bagels, Cornish Pasties, Chicken and Mushroom Pies,

And of course……Calentita! and plenty of it.

The stalls will be manned by local charities and associations, individuals that are fund raising and some of Gibraltar’s top caterers. It’s a good opportunity to help out a good cause and eat some great food. There will also be a number of stalls selling local arts and craft, ethnic goods, and South American and Indian products. To top it all, there will be dancing displays show casing Gibraltar’s diverse cultural mix.

This is the last event in this year’s Spring Festival Programme and it is certainly not one to miss. So get down to Casemates this Friday 25th May from 9pm.
